5 Tips to Get Glowing Skin in Summer

I cannot believe that we are almost half way through July!  How is that possible!?  We still have a good amount of summer days and nights here in South Carolina.  I wanted to share some tips on how to get glowing skin for summer.  I one hundred percent of the time practice a good skincare routine on my face, neck and chest.  If you haven’t read my blog on tips for taking care of your neck, you can find it here.  If you need a good, basic skincare routine you can read about it here.  However, during the winter when I am in mainly long sleeves and pants, I tend to neglect the rest of my body.  But as soon as the weather warms up and I know I am going to be wearing shorts and tank tops, I will shift my focus to getting my skin glowing for summer.

You all know by now I am a big believer in applying sunscreen to prevent premature aging.  It is so important to wear one that is 30 SPF or higher and water resistant up to 80 minutes.  Staying hydrated throughout the day is another important thing to remember as the day time temps soar.  When we aren’t hydrated properly, our skin can look dull and dry.  I aim to drink between 100- 120 ounces per day.  I shared a blog post giving some tips on how to increase your water intake throughout the day.  Now let’s talk about a few things that you can do to get that summer glow!

Dry Brushing.  I do this a few times a week.  I keep my brush in a little basket on the tub and dry brush my arms and legs before I shower.  This helps to get the dead skin off, which can also dull our glow.  This will give you smoother skin and helps your products penetrate better.   Dry brushing increases circulation which in turn will get your skin glowing.  You can find one here.

Glytone Body Wash. This is one of these best body washes for summer.  It has a high concentration of glycolic acid.  This helps to exfoliate skin even further and leaves skin glowing.  I only use this one about 2 to 3 times a week because it can dry me out.  If you can tolerate it more..go for it!  On the other days I use the new retinol body wash by Olay.  I recently used up a bottle of this wash and it has done amazing things for my skin!  It is defiantly more toned and firmer.  You can get the Glytone wash here.  Or if you are local to me we do sell this at Rejuvenations Medical Spa.  It comes in a kit with the Glytone body lotion and loofah.  The Olay I found in a three pack at Costco or you can also pick it up here.

Rejuva Firm Body Lotion.   I wish I could submit this product for the “Best Of” with Allure magazine because this one would win for best body lotion.  It contains the highest concentration of retinol allowed by the FDA.  It also contains four different types of ceramides (which are so important for the skins barrier) and hyaluronic acid (which helps plump the skin).  Between the retinol, ceramides, hyaluronic acid and caffeine, my skin is smooth, plump and my cellulite on the backs of my legs appears less noticeable.  You can purchase it here.  Or come by the spa!

Fenty Beauty Bronzer.  I discovered this product from a You Tube video.  This is a product that I don’t use everyday but, if I am looking for a bronzy, glowy look I will use this.  It comes in a bunch of different shades.  It makes your skin look shiny and healthy. You could even mix this with a little of your body lotion.  It looks fabulous on legs!

Josie Maran Illuminizing Body Butter.  This is another fantastic product to get that summertime glow!  I love to use this on chest, shoulders and arms.  Not only does this hydrate your skin, it has a subtle pinky bronze undertone that is just gorgeous.  It comes in a few different scents.  The Vanilla Fig is my favorite!  You can order it here.

I hope you found these tips helpful!  It is so important to make sure you are exfoliating, hydrating and using the right products for your skin.  Let me know of any must have products you are using to get glowing skin in summer!
